But we have a good backup so there’s no need to worry! 

 

You may be thinking, well we have a good backup so we can recover from a cyber attack! 

This is great, but what about the downtime. Can your business afford the actual cost of being ground to a halt for the length of time it takes to restore your data? 

Backups come in many forms. Think about how long you could be without e-mail, files, phones or access to your line of business apps. 

A strong Recovery Point Objective (RPO, or how much data can I lose?) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO, how quickly do I need it back?) is what is needed.  

So although having a good back up is the foundation of a strong Disaster Recovery Plan, it is by no means a magic wand.
